Where the Wildflowers Don't Bloom P2
Part 2
January 31st, 2023, A Day Before the Fair;
She would normally be here by now, or perhaps I arrived late. Not a chance, I jumped out of the door the moment the lecture finished and I came here right before anyone else. But it's already 10 minutes since I holed up here. Our college library seems somewhat fine from inside. I always wondered how people could ever sit still in a blunt place like this. Now I am here myself that thought only get serious. I really hate it here. Hate is a Big word, I just feel like if the devil offered to take me to one of hell's chambers from here, I would definitely go with him.
She arrived 15 minutes later. I suppose her next lecture might be canceled; otherwise, she wouldn't risk being so late for her library hour, or as she calls it, her reference period. 15 minutes is not late, but we are talking about Sophy here, she is the first person to show up to the lecturer hall even when nature itself seemed determined to silence our professors' lectures.
"Hey" I waved my hand as fast as I can when I saw her, I bet the whole faces buried under those paper bundles are looking at me, but I don't care because she noticed me.
"Shh!" she told as she strode towards me and pinned me down to one of those useless varnished furniture.
"What are you doing here? What about your classes?" she looked genuinely concerned. But seeing her this close only makes my heart to pace heavily. I loved the way she talks, I love how she constantly plays with her hair strand, I love how she looks prepossessing behind those vast glasses, I love how she chuckles every time I utter something stupid.
"I am here for my reference study, and I postponed my classes" I said with a smile hoping she will scold me like she always do but she laughed. She laughed briefly and start to do her regular library chores. It was for mere seconds but I might have stumbled and went to paradise and back. How could she do that to me, how could she torment with butterflies.
"Do you have plans on the day of the College Fair?" I asked right after I returned to the mortal ground.
"Usual" she said while reading some book the size of Oxford Dictionary. I know what her usual means, studying rather than spending time outside the four walls.
"You should do something unusual the day after tomorrow" I said
"And that is?" she is still reading that giant ass book
"Visit the stalls with me or something, anything other than sitting here" I brought my face closer to the table and told her. She looked up to me. I now understand why Men go to war for love, I would do the same, I would probably wage war on anyone to see face this close everyday.
"I don't do those things, they are boring" she told me and resume reading her book.
"It is not if you have company, especially mine" I smirked
She closed her book and said she will think about that, and scolded me for frequently abandoning my classes. There she is, which means she will probably visit the fair. Now that I think about it, I'll have to wait another day to see her again., right now I am accusing Sunday for existing.
